Testudinidae Abstract 1. 1. The plasma proteins and plasma Cu, Fe and Hb transport functions in three turtles (Testudo hermanni, Emys orbicularis and Caretta caretta) have been examined. 2. 2. Four fractions in cellulose acetate and 13–14 in acrylamide gel electrophoresis have been observed. 3. 3. Total plasma proteins, albumin-like component and Alb/Glob, ratio are: Testudo >Caretta >Emys. 4. 4. Ceruloplasmin, transferrin and haptoglobin have been identified and quantitatively evaluated. 5. 5. Cu, Cp (pPD-oxidase or ferroxidase activity), plasma iron and TIBC showed a relationship in Testudo and Emys.
