Abstract |
Testudinidae The project, “Determination of the Conservation Status and Conservation of the Mediterranean Tortoise (Testudo graeca) in Georgia”, was implemented in 2006-2007 and resulted in development of “Action Plan for Conservation of the Mediterranean Tortoise (Testudo graeca) in Georgia”. Until recently, only the subspecies T. g. ibera was recorded in Georgia. During field work on this project two new subspecies were found: T. g. nikolskii in Western Georgia and T. g. armeniaca in Southern Georgia.
