Abstract |
Testudinidae Geochelone Blood samples were taken from 150 healthy specimens of argentine terrestrial turtle (Chelonoidis chilensis chilensis) by means of venipuncture of upper coccygeal vein. The determinations red blood cells, leucocyte and thrombocyte count, hematocrit, hemoglobin concentration, hemathimetric index and differential leucocyte count were performed and compared with other Testudinidae species. No statistically significant changes were observed as function as sex and age (p >0.01). In winter were observed high values of red blood cell counts, hematocrit and hemoglobin (p<0.01), while in summer increased leucocyte and thrombocyte counts were observed ( p<0.01). The differential leucocyte counts were not affected by the studied factors.
