Abstract |
Here I describe a visit at the habitat of Sternotherus depressus in the Black Warrior River watershed where I found a healthy population. All animals had been obviously flawless, except for a few small parasitic leeches clinging to their skin. They showed an interesting behavior, remaining immobile without any effort to escape when I found them. I could observe nearly 20 specimens, mostly juveniles, some adult female, but no adult male.
