Abstract
ABSTRACT Keeping and breeding of Chelodina reimanni PHILIPPEN & GROSSMANN, 1990 in an aqua-terrarium are described, including observations made in the turtle's native habitat in Irian Jaya (Indonesian New Guinea). In its native habitat, C. reimanni inhabits periodically desiccating shallow puddles at water temperatures which exceed 30 °C. In captivity, females produced two to three clutches per year comprising six to fifteen eggs. The eggs are hard-shelled, oval, and about 34 mm x 23 mm in size. Incubation period lasts 65 to 80 days at 28 °C. Hachtlings have a straight carapacial length of about 30.5 mm and weigh 4 to 5 g.
