Abstract |
Testudinidae Dipsochelys dussumieri A method for marking giant tortoises is described. Numbered titanium disks were fixed into depressions cut into the shell, using a metal-resin adhesive. Seven hundred tortoises were marked during field trials on Aldabra Atoll in 1969 and 1970. Weights and measurements of marked tortoises were recorded. Growth and regional population differences are briefly discussed.
