Abstract |
Reptiles are well known carriers of Salmonella. Especially lizards, snakes and tortoises can be considered natural reservoirs for this bacterium and each reptile should be considered a Salmonella carrier until the contrary is proven. ... In conclusion, there are no sound arguments to selectively ban the keeping of reptiles because of the possible zoonotic risk they pose.
