Abstract     
Attention of non conventional animals has increased in the veterinary practice, therefore the knowledge about clinical approach is important to diagnose and treat diseases in this animals. Turtles, tortoises an terrapins are very popular illegal mascots; these animals are ancient living reptiles. The most identifiable characteristic is their caparison, skeletal armor for protection. Sexual maturity in chelonians usually appears at 5 to 7 years old. Males present erected hemipenis with variable length, females have two ovarian with several follicles. Ovum fecundation is internal, the sperm can survive for long time into infundibulum. The ovoposition is present during dry season; during rain season little nursing emerge from the eggs. The chelonians can lay many eggs (2 to 120 in average, according to the species). Dystocia in females or penile prolapse in males are the most common reproductive pathologies in these animals. This document pretend to be a contribution for the veterinary practice, specially for the chelonian reproduction.
