Abstract |
Terrapene ornata The box turtle is a resident of the eastern plains of Colorado, but recently has been introduced into the park by summer visitors, and will probably establish itself there. I have frequently seen box turtles along US 160 between the park and Durango, Colorado. Tourists apparently pick up the turtles on the eastern side of the mountains, become tired of them later, and then drop them at the first opportunity.
