Abstract |
Testudinidae The aim of this study is to evaluate the Hermann’s tortoise (Testudo hermanni boettgeri) habitats distribution in the Iron Gates Natural Park. In order to reach the aim of the project, during 2001 and 2002, there were realised several field observation stages for inventorying Testudo hermanni habitats. Following the field observation stages, there were elaborated GIS distribution maps, considering the digital elevation model, the land use, slope and aspect maps. The results indicate that the distribution of Testudo hermanni depends not only on vegetation formation, but also on other environment factors.
