Testudinidae Distribution and abundance of the spur-thighed tortoise Testudo graeca in the province of Almeria. In the present work we explore the environmental factors determining the distribution and abundance patterns of the spur-thighed tortoise Testudo graeca in the province of Almeria. Information about the presence/absence and abundance of the species was obtained by means of interviews with shepherds. Starting from habitat-species models we build predictive distribution and abundance models of the species.
