A trapping method has been tested to remove the introduced red-cared slider turtle (Trachemys scripta elegans) from the Villa Sorra estate park (province of Modena, Northern Italy). in order to avoid this presence to become an ecological threat to the local population of Emys orbicularis. The traps chosen are floating artificial sun-baths. This method has proven to be effìcient and almost free from risks for trapped turtles.Alternative capture methods have been evaluated as well.
