Trionychidae Cyclanorbis elegans senegalensis Cycloderma aubryi frenatum The survival of these extraordinary animals may have been procured by exactly these features and behaviours for millions of years. Unfortunately we still know so little about the African flapshell turtles, that we would hardly notice if we would threaten them in their existence by one or the other acitivities caused by man. Therefore it is the intention of this book to compile all available data on the four species of African flapshell turtles.
