Abstract
Hepatic lipidosis in reptiles is a degeneration of the liver function and structure that affects the health of the animal in a chronic manner. This process alters the synthesis of compounds such as vitamin D, and the metabolism of drugs such as vitamin A, enrofloxacin or the injectable anaesthesia, meaning that the results after their administration may not be as expected. The different degrees of lipidosis will be explained and the impact on the health of the animal and the onset of symptoms will be discussed. We will also see in what species of reptiles it is more frequent and how to diagnose, treat and prevent it.
