Abstract
Stress, understood as an adaptive response to altered homeostasis of an individual, is not a negative thing for the reptile. In reptiles, stress is part of the adaptive capacity to environmental and individual changes. Thus, its evaluation will tell us if it can be considered detrimental to the animal or not. Captivity, manipulation, reproduction, or the simple visit to the veterinarian can trigger stress responses that alter the diagnose of possible diseases to a greater or lesser extent. Therefore, it is worth knowing what factors could be altered and how to prevent it.
