The European Pond Turtle (Emys orbicularis) embody the resistance of the wildlife of the swamp and the good quality of this habitat. It is part of the remarkable species that symbolize the living heritage of the marshes and of which the protection allows the preservation of habitats and other types less spectacular of this ecosystem. Currently, it is advised to set up an integrated approach of the conservation associating measures in situ (in the wild) and ex situ (in artificial conditions) for better to assure the life of the threatened species. With this aim, the project of European Pond Turtle conservation in Rhone-Alpes region associates various studies since 1995.
