Abstract |
Trionyx sinensis Haematobiochemical and cytopathological changes in diseased turtles were examined. Septicaemia characterized by hyperaemia and congestion were noted. 14 of 18 serum biochemical components in diseased turtles were significantly different from those in healthy turtles, notably aspartate aminotransferase, glutamyl transpeptidase, alanine aminotransferase, creatinine, uric acid and urea nitrogen were increased; lactate dehydrogenase, amylase, alkaline phosphatase, triglycerides and cholesterol were decreased. Necrosis, characterized by nuclear and cytoplasm membrane breakage and mitochondrial outer membrane enlarging, was observed in the liver and kidneys of diseased turtles. Vaccination could prevent disease caused by A. hydrophila.
