Abstract
Ten biochemical indices of blood in the turtle, Trionyx steindachneri, were determined. The results indicated that LDH and CK were 24.8 folds and 31.0 folds more active as that of humans. It may explain adaptation for underwater life, but TG and CHOL only were 0.34 fold and 0.42 times as much as that of human, respectively. Eighteen amino acids were measured. The total weight of amino acid was (76.27 plus or minus 21.51) mg. The eight for eight essential amino acids was (45.83 plus or minus 8.73)% of the total amino acid weight.
