Abstract
Trionyx sinensis This paper describes the characteristics of pathogenic bacteria of "haemolytic ascitic disease" in soft-shelled turtles from Zhejiang province. Two bacteria isolated from the heart, liver and ascites of the diseased turtles were proved to be the pathogens of the disease by infection experiment. They were identified as Aeromonas caviae and A. sobria on the basis of their morphological features, physiological and biochemical characteristics. The results of drug sensitivity test and therapeutic effect showed that ceftriaxone, ofloxacin, gentamicin, ciprofloxacin and chloramphenicol to be the most effective drugs for the disease.
