Abstract
The structure of one population of Trachemys decussata decussata during its terrestrial activity is described. The males and the adult females are seen in similar and high proportions out of the water, while the juveniles are only a 3% of the total sample. An increase of the terrestrial activity of both sexes can be observed once they have reach their sexual maturity, being the animals of bigger sizes the most frequent out of the water. There is a segregation between the space and time niche in individual of different sex and age, and this might constitute a mechanism to reduce the competition, particulary during the second quarter of the year, period in which the construction of the nests and the egg-laying are more likely to take place
