Abstract
Testudinidae
A brief review of the discovery and status of the population of padloper tortoises (Homopus) from the rocky mountains around Aus in southern Namibia, that have recently been referred to Homopus bergeri, is given. The tortoises are not refereable to any currently recognized Homopus, and re-examination of the type of Homopus bergeri Undholm 1906 confirms that it is a juinior synonym of Psammobates tentorius verroxii and therefore unavailable as a name for the Aus tortoise.
