Abstract |
Sternotherus minor A canonical analysis was performed to determine the phenetic relationships between populations of Sternotherus minor. The restriction of this turtle to the aquatic habitat enabled comparison of this information with relationships and dispersal histories for other aquatic organisms. Paleogeographic information was also coordinated to develop an evolutionary history of this turtle in the southeastern United States. Comparison of a multivariate analysis of chemical characteristics of southeastern rivers with the results of the phenetic analysis of the turtles showed little correlation between environment and turtle morphology. Lack of differentiation of populations seems to be related to the opportunity for gene flow. Added by: Admin Last edited by: Beate Pfau |
