Abstract
On October 10th 2004, one Platysternon megacephalum hatched in my turtle facility. I acquired my LTC male in the spring of 2001 while my LTC female was acquired later that year in September 2001. The pair underwent annual cycling and the first egg production occurred in 2004 when my female laid 5 eggs, 3 banded and one hatched. Eggs production occurred the following year in 2005, with 5 eggs; only one egg banded, but it did not hatch. I expect eggs in 2006 near the end of July. Egg production occurred after a long and cold hibernation in 2004. In 2005 the pair had not hibernated for as long and the temperature had not been kept as cold as in 2004. In 2006, I repeated the duration and temperatures from 2004. I will present my observations on courting behaviour and copulation, nesting, captive care and hatchling characteristics.
