The habitat of Kinosternon scorpioides scorpioides is ecologically characterized in the Municipality of São Bento The research was carried out from January 2003 to January 2004, in dry and flooded fields during a complete seasonal cycle (rainy season and dry season), and in different sites and time. In this region the individuals of this species inhabit tropical water bodies, with acidic pH, transparency coefficient varying between 0,20 and 0,70 m, and cloudiness between 11 and 50 (NTU). The dissolved oxygen oscillated between 1,46 and 8,40 mg.L -1, evidencing similarities between the ecological characteristics of the habitat of Kinosternon scorpioides scorpioides in São Bento and the species habitat in Costa Rica region
