Abstract     
Aim: In order to understand the relationship between the temperature and growth of turtles and offer the theoretical proof for the manpower breeding of turtles, the juvenile Mauremys mutica growth which fed under different temperature conditions were studied. Me(thods:) Two groups of juvenile turtles were fed separately at indoor constant temperature and indoor normal temperature for 165 days. Their body weight, carapace length, carapace width and body thickness were measured every 5 days and the statistic analysis were carried out at the end of experiment. Results: After 165 days, the average carapace length is 53.420 mm, the average carapace width is 44.761 mm, the average body thickness is 23.307 mm, the average body weight is 29.768 g, the average growing weight by day is 0.193 g and the survival ratio is 100% for juvenile turtles that fed under constant temperature condition. The average carapace length is 47.185 mm, the average carapace width is 39.868 mm, the average body thickness is 20.023 mm, the average body weight is 17.304 g, the average growing weight by day is 0.025 g and the survival ratio is 90% for juvenile turtles that fed under normal temperature condition. There are obviously positive correlation in the body weight and carapace length, the body weight and carapace width, the body weight and body thickness, the carapace length and carapace width, the carapace length and body thickness as well as the carapace width and body thickness for the two groups of juvenile turtles. The growth model under normal temperature is: m=(18.482 2)-(0.064 2) D+0.004 D~2 and the growth model under constant temperature is: m=(17.273 337)e~(0.005 982 D). The experiment also indicates that the growth of the juvenile turtles is different among individuals under the same condition. Conclusion: According to the above results, we conclude that the growth of Mauremys mutica is closely related to the temperature. High temperature stimulates the growth of juvenile turtles.
