The golden-headed box turtle(Cuora aurocapitata) acted as the special species in China.It was found and named in 1988 by LUO Bi-tao and ZONG Yu.A survey on the geographical distribution and number of the wild golden-headed box turtle was conducted in Jing County,southeast of Anhui Province.from 2001 to 2004.The result showed there were about 80-240 individuals remaining in an area of 80 km~2 and the turtles were in the rivulet of Guba Town,Cai Town and Gufeng Town,about north latitude from 30°27′ to 30°52′.In recent years,the number of the populations and the habitat of the turtles decreased sharply because of the activities from the human being.It is the time for us to take the effective measures to protect it.
