Abstract |
Testudinidae The author has experimented with varying techniques to break diapause and initiate development of Pyxis eggs for several years and has developed successful incubation methods for them. Eggs are bred in intervals of incubation and cooler periods. The incubation takes place half-buried in totally dry Vermiculite at 30.5-31.6 °C (87-89 °F). The temperatures of the cooler location are 18.3-22.3 °C (65-72 °F). Furthermore a long-term diapause at the beginning led to extreme rapid hatching tortoises of Pyxis planicauda, P. arachnoides, and Geochelone platynota.
