Abstract |
In Argentina Phrynops hilarii is a quite common species. After a short review of the available information about the natural range, I describe the different types of habitats where it can be found in Argentina. I keep a breeding group for some years now and I share in this article my experience with this species. These turtles are quite easy to keep and do not need very special conditions nor technical equipment, at least not in the home range near Buenos Aires, where I live. During the incubation, although it is important to check the humidity level and to moisten the substrate, the eggs seem to be sensitive to too much water.
