Abstract |
The actual status of the populations of Emys orbicularis and Mauremys leprosa in Castellón is analised, given data about their distribution in 100 km2 UTM squares. E. orbicularis appears in 11 localities, all of them included in the coastal area. In the other hand, M. leprosa is exclusive of rivers of the interior of Castellón, being present at least in six localities. The present of this specie appeared independent to the values of pH, conductivity or salinity, while E. orbicularis seems asociated to brachis waters and high conductivity. The distribution of Trachemys scripta as a competidor species was also studied, confirming its presence in four localities.
