Abstract
Testudinidae Geochelone nigra Pneumonia was suspected and an antibacterial therapy with enrofloxacin as a broad spectrum antibiotic was initiated. On the first day of treatment, 1,000 mg of enrofloxacin (Baytril® 10%, Bayer AG, Leverkusen, Germany) was injected i.m. into its forelegs divided in two different areas. One hour later, the tortoise showed a severe hyperexcitation with uncoordinated movements, hypersalivation and profuse diarrhea. This clinical course lasted for about 2 hr, and the animal was very depressed after that.
