Abstract |
Testudinidae The objective of this study is to evaluate correlations between pre-hibernation individual factors (body size, environmental and dietary management) and mortality observed during or post-hibernation. For this purpose a population of 24 Hermann’s tortoises were analyzed before the hibernation: weight, carapace straight length and anamnestic parameters (number of previous hibernations, diet and housing conditions) of each individual were recorded. After hibernation mortality rate was calculated and statistical analysis between individual factors and mortality were performed.
