Abstract |
Chrysemys picta Nesting behavior in the western painted turtle was observed in north-central and east- central Wisconsin from 1961 through 1966. Five complete nest-digging and egg-laying observations, along with 15 fragmentary observations, were recorded. A total of 75 nests was measured for depth, diameter at rim, and diameter at bottom. The turtles were either autopsied or palpated to detect the presence of eggs.
