Abstract |
Two Yersinia strains (97-7-2C and 97-9-2A') were isolated from the liver of diseased Trionyx sinensis in Taiwan. Mortality rate in young turtles (10-15 g body weight) after inoculation with both strains was 100%. Culture and physico-biochemical examination revealed that 97-7-2C was Y. enterocolitica and 97- 9-2A' was Y. pseudotuberculosis. Pathological changes were detected in the liver, kidneys and intestines significantly, with most serious changes in intestines. Y. enterocolitica was sensitive to gentamicin and trimethoprim and Y. pseudotuberculosis to trimethoprim and furantoin
