Abstract
Trionyx sinensis Typical neck swelling was reported on some turtle farms in Xiangshuihe reservoir, (Henan, China) in June 1997. Etiological investigations showed that the typical neck swelling of soft-shelled turtles was caused by Aeromonas hydrophila and/or A. sobria infection of wounds in the necks. Measures were recommended to control the disease. In addition to disinfection to kill pathogenic bacteria, the most important recommendation was to improve the turtles environment to get rid of wound causing factors, to rationalize density and to improve feedstuffs.
