Abstract |
Abstract: A radiotelemetry study was conducted on spotted turtles, Clemmys guttata, in central Ontario from 28 April 1994 through 30 October 1995 to ascertain their habitat selection and requirements. Six turtles were tracked during 1994 and nine during 1995. During the active season, from just after emergence from hibernation in spring until late summer, marshes were primarily selected. As the season progressed, turtles shifted from marshes to predominantly bogs. Hibernation was exclusively in bogs. Spotted turtles displayed high fidelity to and were gregarious in hibernacula.
