Abstract |
An adult female Terrapene carolina major collected on May 30, 1975 at Gulf County, Florida , laid 4 eggs on July 2, 3 of which hatched on Sept. 12, 1975. The 4th egg containing dead twins was opened on Sept. 13. The twins were photographed before preservation and measured with vernier calipers shortly after preservation. The egg that contained the twins was somewhat smaller than the other eggs of the clutch at the time of oviposition. The twins' egg was 32.9 .times. 21.2 mm while the other 3 eggs averaged 34.7 .times. 21.7 mm.
