Abstract
29 Sacalia quadriocellata were randomly divided into 2 groups for studying the relationship between reproduction and hibernation from December 2004 to Feburary 2005.The test group(9♀5♂)brought in the temperature of 8.46±1.61℃ for 32 days, and control group(10♀5♂)under normal environment. The results were found as fallows:After low temperature stress, the weight of the turtles in experiment group decreased by 8.68±2.45% but there were no significance differances between male and female. The width of carapace of male decreased from 8.55±0.26cm to 8.46±0.22 cm(P0.05),and the length of carapace of female decreased from 12.97±0.80 cm to 12.94±0.81 cm(P0.05).The surface of carapace decreased significantly.Turtles in control group have no significantly changes of carapace but the weight loss revealed significant differances from turtles in expriment group(P0.01).The weight loss had a positive correlation with the temperature(r=0.811,P0.05).The morphological changes might be associated with the reproduction and the metabolism.
